Year 7 Transition
 
In Year 7, we create a sense of belonging to our community through a comprehensive transition program, to ensure your daughter’s transition to the Academy is smooth and continues their growth and development.
 
Year 7 Transition Days
 
We run Year 7 transition days prior to commencing Year 7. This allows students to make friends and get to know the Academy.
 
All Year 7s are paired with an older Academy student as part of our Big Sister Little Sister program, to ensure that each student has someone who can share their experience as an Academy student and welcome them into the Academy community. The student has time to forge a connection with their Big Sister who can answer any questions and helps build trust and resilience. 
 
Year 7 Camp
 
The Year 7 Camp occurs early in Term 1 so that students get to know their class and their teachers early. Our camp helps students develop friendships, connection and confidence as they work together with their peers and teachers on fun and engaging camp activities.
 
Approach to Learning and Teaching
 
To help students navigate high school, we have a dedicated program that develops their skills and confidence in learning.

Across Year 7 and 8, students are given the opportunity to try many different subjects and become curious and creative problem solvers. In addition, we offer Enrichment English and Mathematics at Year 7 & 8 and there is a well-resourced Learning Enhancement team to support students at all levels.
 
In Year 7 students study three languages and then choose one of these languages to continue in Year 8 and Year 9.
 
In our STEAM subjects and co-curricular opportunities, we guide students through a range of academic and social investigations based on inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Our students also begin using Melbourne’s best learning and cultural centres, like the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Museum and local sporting facilities to develop their curiosity.
