About Academy

Sport - Department Overview

Sport is an integral part of our school structure. Sport contributes uniquely to the harmonious relationship between the intellectual and physical development of our students. It is where the skills learned in physical education are put into practice in a competitive game situation. Our main focus is on the development of individual skills and abilities and on giving everyone an equal opportunity to participate in competitive sport without being obsessed by the outcome. We believe that sport contributes to the development of school spirit, that it enriches the feeling of pride and the sense of community amongst staff and students.

Sports offered are - Indoor/Outdoor Soccer, Indoor Cricket, Swimming, Super 8's Cricket, Athletics, Volley Ball, Tennis, Basketball, Netball, Girls AFL Football, Softball, Cross-Country, and School Aerobics. The College's involvement in volleyball and aerobics has extended to include community based competitions which offer regular, seasonal competition.

Inter-School Sport:

The Academy is a member of the Secondary Catholic Schools Sports Association. The school's affiliations with Catholic All Schools and the Victorian Secondary Schools Sports association provide pathways to state and national competition for our elite athletes

House Sport:

The House System is quite comprehensive. Student leaders from each house at each year level combine with the senior house leaders to direct the yearly house sporting activities including the one day Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. These carnivals are highlights of the school sporting year with opportunities for students to complete at all levels.

Sports Achievement Night

The Academy supports a culture of excellence as opposed to a culture of winning: the emphasis is on doing one's best and the development of strong training and team ethics.

Recognition of a student's participation, achievements and contribution to the sporting life of the School is highlighted at the Sports Achievement Night in November.
