About Academy

Student Leadership

Students at the Academy are provided with the opportunity to develop leadership skills through membership of:

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The Senior SRC consists of an executive committee of 8 year 12 students: The College Co-Captains, Vice Captain and 6 SRC Leaders.

The SRC at each year level (Years 7 to 11) consists of the elected Captain and Vice Captain of each homeroom.

The specific duties of the Student Leaders at each year level include:

  • To represent students and to provide a forum for their ideas

  • To assist in the planning and running of special events, assemblies and other school functions, as well as fundraising projects.

  • To represent the College at events in the wider community

  • To attend and assist at College functions, especially where guests are in attendance

  • To learn various leadership skills by participation and a raised profile in the College community.

Regular meetings are held between the members of each SRC and their Year Level Coordinator. At various times throughout the year there will be a meeting of the combined SRC representatives from all year levels.

House Student Leadership

The Sports Captain, Vice Captain and House Captains (Frayne, Goold, McAuley and Sherlock) are elected by the house members of Years 10 and 11, the Physical Education Staff and the House Advisers and Sports Coordinator.

Their duties are to:

  • Liaise with the Sports Coordinator about house activities/sports, activities/lunchtime and after-school activities

  • Assist PE staff with the organisation of sporting carnivals

  • Take a high profile and promote sport within the school

  • Encourage all students to participate and lead by example

  • Attend Interschool Carnivals and accept trophies on behalf of the school

  • Present awards, medallions, pennants and certificates at school assemblies

  • Be an exemplary student at all times

Visual Arts Student Leaders

The Visual Arts and Design Team consist of students in Years 10, 11 and 12 who have been selected by Visual Arts staff and Head of Department. Their duties are to promote students' participation in all areas of Visual Arts.

Performing Arts Student Leader

This Leadership Team comprises a Music Captain and Vice Captain; Dance Captain and Vice Captain; Drama Captain and Vice Captain. Their duties are to support and promote Performing Arts functions; i.e. Music Tours, Band Camp, Concerts, Assemblies and Soirees.
