About Academy

Governance

The Academy is administered by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy under the leadership of a Principal whose appointment by the Board, Mercy Secondary Education Inc is ratified by the Mercy Congregation Leader. The Principal, so appointed, is responsible for the administration of the school in the tradition and spirit of the Sisters of Mercy as expressed in the ideals of the Foundress, Mother Catherine McAuley.

Following incorporation of Mercy Secondary Education Inc in 1997, the final authority and employing body is the Board of Management - MSEI to whom the Principal is accountable for the administration of the College.

The Melbourne Mercy Congregation Leader and Council ultimately oversees the actions of Mercy Secondary Education Inc, bearing in mind that the history of our secondary schools has reflected a strong emphasis on local government in decision making at the appropriate level whilst maintaining the distinctive Mercy educational philosophy.
